Por que escolher Camargue

  • Marshes, lagoons and salt works within a short drive of Arles, a setting with no equivalent in a congress city.
  • Arles, a city of Roman and Romanesque monuments listed by UNESCO, with a historic centre suited to receptions.
  • Three airports within reach (Marseille, Nîmes, Montpellier) and a rail link through Nîmes.
  • Traditions specific to the region, including the manades, the gardians and Camargue horse riding, which lend themselves to team programmes.
  • A coastline of beaches, lagoons and dunes, usable from late spring to early autumn.
  • Estates away from urban bustle, suited to small residential seminars.

Acesso ao aeroporto

Marseille-Provence (MRS): about 80 km from Arles, roughly 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes by road.

Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes (FNI): about 45 km from Arles, roughly 45 minutes by road; it is the closest airport for much of the Camargue.

Montpellier-Méditerranée (MPL): about 45 km from Aigues-Mortes and 80 km from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes by road.

Paris by TGV: about 2h50 from Paris Gare de Lyon to Nîmes, where the TGV station, Nîmes-Pont-du-Gard, lies about 12 km from the city centre. A regional train of about 20 minutes then continues from Nîmes to Arles.

Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer: there is no direct rail service; the journey is made by coach or car from Arles, about 45 minutes for roughly 40 km.

Capacidade MICE

The Camargue has no large convention centre. Groups are hosted in estates, farmhouses and hotels that have their own meeting rooms, and capacities vary widely from one property to another, so we confirm figures in writing for each site.

For a plenary or a larger format, the most practical bases are Arles, with its heritage venues and historic centre suited to receptions, and Montpellier, home to the Corum convention centre. Capacities are confirmed with each venue, depending on layout and date.

Sazonalidade

  • April to June: mild temperatures, good light and the wetlands at their most lively; the Easter feria brings Arles to life, to be checked before booking.
  • July and August: strong heat and heavy visitor numbers, especially on the beaches of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer; the Rencontres de la photographie in Arles animate the town in summer. Schedule outdoor programmes early in the morning.
  • September and October: the sea is still warm, beaches are calmer and the autumn light is good; a strong window for incentives.
  • November to March: a quiet season, with several estates closing for the winter break; opening must be confirmed for each property.
  • The mistral: a strong north-westerly wind that can blow for several days, especially in late winter and spring. Every outdoor activity needs an indoor alternative, decided the evening before.

Perguntas frequentes

How do participants get to the Camargue?

Most groups fly to Marseille, Nîmes or Montpellier and continue by road, allowing roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes depending on the airport and the destination. By TGV, Paris is about 2h50 from Nîmes, followed by a regional train of about 20 minutes to Arles. Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is reached by coach or car from Arles.

What is the best season for a seminar in the Camargue?

Spring and early autumn are the most favourable: mild temperatures, lively wetlands and calmer beaches. July and August are very hot and busy, and the mistral can blow for several days in late winter and spring. Always check that the estates are open before fixing dates.

Can a group see horses, bulls and flamingos in a single day?

Yes. A birdwatching outing in the marshes shows flamingos and herons, a ride with a gardian introduces the Camargue horses, and a visit to a manade completes the day. Encounters depend on each estate's schedule, and we always plan an alternative in case the weather changes.

What group size can the Camargue host for a seminar?

There is no large convention centre in the Camargue. Estates and hotels mainly host small and mid-sized groups, with capacities that vary by property. For larger formats, Arles or Montpellier are more suitable; all capacities are confirmed in writing with each venue.

Are the protected natural areas open to groups?

Part of the territory is a nature reserve with restricted access, so outings are made with guides or in areas open to the public. The regional park and the staff of each estate set out the rules for each site, which we build into the programme before the visit.
